Reflecting Back and Looking Ahead

During last night's annual Society Meeting, Mr. Meester took a few minutes to share his reflections of Holland Christian over the past year and spoke with excitement about our future. As I often am, I was struck with God's faithfulness and guidance as we walk with our children toward the close of another school year. As a school district family, we have had so many joy-filled moments which were and continue to be cause for celebration. But likewise, as a school district family, we have had sorrowful and challenging times as well. What comfort it is to see God's hand in the joy as well as darker times and to be used by God as an instrument of his peace. love and hope. Our children are watching and learning. They, too, are learning that in difficult times God calls upon us to act in His name. Thank you for praying with us over our children as they grow and learn who they are as a precious child of God.

I am so grateful and excited to be able to announce that Danielle Snoeyink will serve as our new second grade teacher at South Side. She will join the team currently in place: Jenna Ritsema, Sheri Hunderman and Michelle Dreyer. If you have a moment, please introduce yourself to Danielle. She bubbles over with love for children, exudes excitement for learning and, best of all, has a deep and abiding love for our Lord. Welcome, Danielle!

A gift card has been found near the front doors of South Side. If you realized that you have lost a gift card, please come to the office for details.

On that note...our lost and found table is full of cast-off winter gear. I believe I speak for everyone when I say that no one is looking to match another mitten this year! However, we will need to bundle our kids once again next year. If you are able in the next few weeks, please take a look at our lost and found to claim lost items.

Second Grade Parents
Our little second graders are not so little anymore. They have nearly outgrown all of the learning experiences we have to offer them at South Side. Moving Up Day will take place at the end of May. Parents of our South Side second graders, we would like to offer you the opportunity to meet Mr. Howell, principal, and our third grade teachers, Mrs. DeZwaan and Mrs. Stielstra. You are invited to come to the Pine Ridge library on Wednesday, April 27 from 8:45-9:30 for a casual meet and greet. Feel free to ask questions, tour the building and get to know several of the the loving Pine Ridge staff who are eager to get to know you.

Host Families Needed
Holland Christian is blessed to have incredibly dedicated families who are passionate about raising their children with a Christian education. There are international parents who dream of providing the best education in the world for their children and are willing to sacrifice enormously for that. Holland Christian can provide teenagers around the world with a quality life-impacting Christian education.  If you would like more information about being a host family and making a significant and lasting impact, please contact Karen DeRoo at kderoo@hollandchristian.org

Hot Lunch News from Nancy!
Thank you to all our wonderful families we have had the opportunity to serve lunch to over the last school year. It is that time of year when we focus on students who have negative lunch accounts.
We need your help in correcting negative balances. We appreciate you taking the responsibility to pay any past due accounts. Our current Holland Christian negative balance total is $(3350.00). My hope is in the next few weeks we could have this negative amount to zero!  You may send a check to your child’s school for payment or go to sendmoneytoschool.com to make a payment by credit card. If you don’t know your child’s student id number, please email Sue Lambers slambers@hollandchristian.org. New USDA, child nutrition regulations, state that we are not able to have negative balances at the end of the school year. Thank you in advanced for saving us time of collecting balances over the summer.

All positive lunch accounts roll over to the next year. If you have multiple students at Holland Christian, we can help you transfer money in between accounts. If you have questions about your account, please call Sue Lambers at 820-2934 or email her slambers@hollandchristian.org.
